Old Bear Wallow Jeep Tour

Spectacular views above Sedona

Climb 2,000 feet along the old stagecoach trail!

Climb this early stagecoach route along Schnebly Hill Road through Bear Wallow Canyon onto the Mogollon Rim to enjoy stunning views of Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon 2,000 feet below. Features a 4x4 excursion along the scenic volcanic rim trail among the world's largest continuous stand of Ponderosa Pines.  Upper portions of this trail may be closed in winter.

When Sedona was first developing as a town in the early 1900s, it was important for the local farmers to get their crops up to the Flagstaff area in a timely fashion to insure their produce was still fresh upon arrival. Flagstaff was not only a much larger settlement, but had access to the early Santa Fe Railroad line for shipping purposes.

With the existing wagon trail routes requiring up to a 4-day journey to the Flagstaff area, the T.C. Schnebly and his brother Elsworth took it upon themselves to widen an existing cattle trail to allow for more transportation between Sedona and Flagstaff. The result for the people of Sedona was a route that cut the time required to reach Flagstaff in less than half. This allowed not only the produce being grown to arrive in a more fresh state, but even allowed for the local trout from Oak Creek to be salted and transported up to Flagstaff.

Today, this old cattle trail turned wagon road affords us incredible views of Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, Bear Wallow Canyon, and the Colorado Plateau. This unique ride through history and Sedona's canyons is a journey that inspires and creates wonder and awe.
